The dominant feature of the Eastwood neighbourhood is its close proximity to Northlands, an entertainment, business and educational complex operated by a not-for-profit community organization that hosts events at three primary facilities: Northlands Park Racetrack and Casino, (gaming and horse racing) Edmonton Expo Centre (conferences, trade shows and other special events) and Rexall Place, (professional sports and concerts). Every week thousands of people attend events in venues throughout its 160 acres of land.

There are also numerous small and independent businesses along 118th Ave. The nearest library is the Sprucewood Branch of the Edmonton Public Library at 11555 - 95 St.

The Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society, located within the former Parkdale School at 11648 85 St, operates the Aboriginal Community Connections Resource Centre that provides Aboriginal people with cultural and community supports, employment and housing. Located just north of the neighbourhood is the Habitat for Humanity Edmonton & ReStore North at 8210 Yellowhead Trail.

Eastwood residents benefit from the close proximity to the Yellowhead Trail to the north heading east and west, Fort Road/Manning Drive corridor heading northeast to Fort Saskatchewan and southwest towards central Edmonton and Wayne Gretzky Drive to the east, and 97th St. that becomes Highway 28 as it heads north out of the city. The neighbourhood is very close to the Coliseum LRT station on 118th Ave. near 78 St. The Edmonton Transit System maintains bus service in the neighbourhood. Eastwood is benefitting from the revitalization of 118th Ave. between Northlands and 94th St. Since revitalization began, the city has invested in street upgrades, landscaping and sidewalk improvements, improved business facades as well as the staging of various festivals and community events. Crime has been reduced and new businesses have emerged as well as several arts and cultural organizations.

With the exception of Eastwood Park on 118th Ave. at 85 St, there are few public parks or green spaces in Eastwood. The nearest recreation centre is the Eastglen Leisure Centre at 11410 68 St. that features one of the few salt water swimming pools in the city.
