Location Details

Sherwood Park is bounded by Yellowhead Highway to the north, Wye Road to the south, Highway 21 to the east, and Anthony Henday Drive to the west.  

As of 2018, Strathcona County had a population of 70,000 residents living in Sherwood Park.

There are 17 public and seven Catholic schools in Sherwood Park operating under Elk Island Public Schools and Elk Island Catholic Schools, respectively. Sherwood Park has 37 parks and sports fields, as well as numerous recreational facilities. Millennium Place, a multi-purpose recreation centre, offers a swimming pool two ice arenas, gyms, workout areas, drop-in sports classes, and areas for children and youth.

Other facilities include the Broadmoor Arena, Glen Allan Recreation Complex, Kinsmen Leisure Centre, Sherwood Park Arena/Sports Centre, and Strathcona Athletic Park. The southwest portion of Sherwood Park contains the community centre, Strathona County Library, Sherwood Park Mall, Broadmoor Lake Park, and Festival Place, a 500-seat theatre with over 500 professional arts, dance, theatre, film, and community events.

The Refinery Row district, which is located west of Sherwood Park and south of Yellowhead Highway, includes many of the larger oil refineries in Western Canada.

Residents have easy access to Edmonton via the Yellowhead Highway, Baseline Road and 101st Avenue, Wye Road and the Sherwood Park Freeway, and the nearby Anthony Henday Drive. They can also use Sherwood Park Transit's commuter routes.
